What I Am Reading – or Re-reading….

LYNN AUSTIN’S Chronicles of the Kings series

This is an awesome series. This is the second time that I am reading through it. I’m on the 4th book out of 5 and I’m loving it all over again!

This series is based in fact, historical fact, Biblical fact, from the pages of the Old Testament and it is because of this strong foundation of truth that it is a must read series. The stories come to life from the books of 2 Kings, Isaiah and 2 Chronicles recounting the life of King Hezekiah and his son, King Manasseh.

He was born to rule the people of God…but Yahweh is only a vague, powerless memory in the minds of His people.

A promising start to a series that will acquaint Christian readers with some little-known biblical prophets and kings.” —Publishers Weekly

“Austin brings this biblical account to vivid life in her well-researched fictionalization of the life if one of Judah’s most fascinating kings. 3 stars” –Romantic Times

The Way Home – review

A missing child. A family in crisis. A faith tested. In their darkest hour, God gives hope.

The Way Home (by Lionsgate) is based on the true story of one day that changed everything for Randy & Christal Simpkins.

Randy (Cain) is a husband and father who is struggling to balance his family responsibilities and his commitment to his job.

On March 31, 2000, Randy Simpkins came home early from the office to help his wife, Christal (Lori Beth Edgeman), pack for a vacation to the beach. Within minutes on their rural farm home, their 2-year old son (Joe) is gone.

The movie tells the story of the next 8 hours spent searching for Joe with the help of family, friends, community and rescue personnel – and Randy’s internal struggle to realign his priorities and his relationship with God and his family.

This is truly a “family movie” that I would definitely recommend to others. The Way Home is not just about finding a lost child, it is also about a man finding out what truly matters in life, his family and his faith in God.

O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endures for ever.

Golden Lake, Ontario

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks to God for my Redeemer,
Thanks for all Thou dost provide!
Thanks for times now but a memory,
Thanks for Jesus by my side!
Thanks for pain, and thanks for pleasure,
Thanks for comfort in despair!
Thanks for grace that none can measure,
Thanks for love beyond compare!

Thanks for roses by the wayside,
Thanks for thorns their stems contain!
Thanks for home and thanks for fireside,
Thanks for hope, that sweet refrain!
Thanks for joy and thanks for sorrow,
Thanks for heavenly peace with Thee!
Thanks for hope in the tomorrow,
Thanks through all eternity!
