Out Live Your Life

10 Sep

Another inspirational title from Max Lucado and Thomas Nelson Publishers

“You’ve been given your life. No one else has your version..Life is racing by, and if we aren’t careful, you and I will look up, and our shot at it will have passed us by.”  (from chapter 1) Max Lucado issues a life changing challenge in “Out Live Your Life.”  The thought that we have ONE chance to make a difference for eternity, to live a life that continues after we are gone, like ripples on a pond, is a sobering thought but an inspiring challenge to “live in such a way that your death is just the beginning of your life.”

Max reminds us  that God chose everyday people to be His disciples, His witnesses, His hands and feet – they were from every walk of life, common people – people like us. Max takes the reader through the first 12 chapters of the book of Acts examining the first church, the first believers and the importance of the unity of the body of Christ, not only then but now as well.

The world is needy, full of widows and orphans, millions and millions of starving and poor, without homes or hope and without God. They need food, shelter, medicine and they desperately need the good news of the Gospel of Christ. Not only those in foreign lands and impoverished countries have need of bread and the bread of life but those we pass daily also need to hear the good news. How can we help? Where do we start? What do we do? How can our lives make a difference for eternity?

Included in this book is a “discussion and action guide” prepared by David Drury which would be useful in both group & individual study to help inspire action as a result of reading this book – encouragement to do something to help the world for Christ and to Out Live Your Life.

I found this book to be inspirational and relevant. I plan to share this book with others and to look for & pray for ways that I can begin to out live my life. “One hundred percent of the author’s royalties from Outlive Your Life products will benefit children and families through World Vision and other ministries of faith-based compassion.”
